For years, I have watched in amazement as God has powerfully used the ministry of Jean André to reach the youth of Europe with the Good News. Hi Kidz International is no doubt one of the great God stories of the 20th century. It is a joy to finally see such a wonderful, God-honoring book recount the history and work of this great man. It’s a story every believer should read.

Luis Palau World Evangelist

What a joy to read the account of the early founders of Hi Kidz International and journey with them in witnessing God’s faithfulness to accomplish His purposes in the lives of children, even in dire circumstances. But You Are the Boss gives voice to the immeasurable importance of children and engages us with fascinating stories of the life-changing miracles experienced when the Gospel is lovingly presented to these precious little ones.

Jean André was a legendary figure. Though hugely successful, he remained a humble servant. And of his life has come a great ministry to children all around the world.

My husband Bill and I first met Jean and Mady André in the early 1970s. We got to know them as people who used their gifts in a sacrificial way to help fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus. We had the opportunity to come to know this family and to appreciate their ministry and their heart for disadvantaged children. A couple of years ago, I met with the daughter of Jean and Mady, Anne-Christine Bataillard, and it was exciting to see how she has taken on the directorship of this great ministry.

Engaging, thought provoking, and thoroughly delightful! But You Are The Boss is a beautifully interwoven biography and history of the birth of a ministry that continues to impact thousands of children across the globe, decades later. The stories will tug on your heart, and help you to see afresh what God can do through a life surrendered to Him.

It’s a rare leader whose gifts incorporate both vision and pragmatism. Anne-Christine Bataillard is such a person. Her vision is fuelled, not only by the legacy of her father, but also by a personal commitment that every child should have the opportunity to be loved, to know they belong, and to become a friend of Jesus. She is a team-builder who knows that such a Kingdom-sized vision involves bold partnering with others. It is this generosity of spirit that has seen the growth of Hi Kidz across the globe.

Jean André left a lasting impression on me. To this day, I feel his compassion and tenderness toward the child that I was, as well as his ability to listen and his unshakeable belief that we will all come to Jesus. He strengthened my desire to serve the Lord by his trust and encouragement. I have no doubt that I am an evangelist today thanks to Jean André.

The name of Jean André is synonymous with disadvantaged children. Inspired by the Gospel, he had planted the first seed…but it was God, the “Big Boss,” who made that seed grow! Countless children have benefited from this love-based ministry.

Paul Schoop, Director, Bible and Missionary Institute in Vevey, Switzerland

This book reminds us of Jean André’s vision: to help disadvantaged children by offering them bread as well as spiritual nourishment. Sixty years later, this vision remains intact, and as relevant as ever. Are we aware of the urgent need to lead children from places near and far to Jesus? But You Are The Boss shows us how a God-given conviction can mobilize us to action, and bear everlasting fruit.

I wanted to thank you so much for sending me a copy of your new book!!! It arrived this week and I am half-way through reading it. You have done a fantastic job pulling so much information and so many anecdotes together and I want you to know how touched I am by your father's story - what a wonderful, wonderful man! you did a splendid job on the book and I can't wait to get back to reading it! Love,

The book is lovely & very inspiring. I especially enjoyed reading your parents story. I can also appreciate what an enormous amount of work has gone into it. Helena Bachmann Milligan has obviously done a great job working with you. The work is so ongoing & Our Lord is blessing in such a wonderful way that I can see it was quite a challenge to know when to finish the story which is still unfolding from month to month. Thank you so much for letting us share in it for prayer.
